Dear Journal: Finally got a nap.

The last few days have been rough on the ol’ sleep schedule. I finished my nap to find Jack, the large state trooper, at my door. He invited me to his office to look at some autopsy reports. As long as I was there, would I mind bringing the interview tapes and documents for him to make copies? Since the release that the interviewees signed authorized us full rights to do what we will, in the event of their deaths, I brought the requested data. Besides, I felt that some sort of justice was called for. John and I had discussed the case over the phone, and he was busy embarrassing the FBI, through his connections, while I helped the Iowa State Patrol. This way, there will be a nice headline story for us to have as material for a while.

It also seems that one of the victims was related to Raven, so this whole thing just got personal.

The technician left us to make some audio analysis and copies of the tapes while Lieutenant Nicholson and I went to review files.

Here is how they went:

1. Ronald Hunter died on February 14th at 02:30 hours plus or minus three hours. Occupation: Artist. Criminal Record for three convictions of driving while intoxicated. Marital status-Divorced. Social information indicates the decedent was a Drinking Alcoholic, whose ex-wife ran with the kids after he did not come home from a four-day binge. He claims to have been on a commission-painting job that required him to be out of the house for 20 hours a day. No one ever believed his claims that he did not drink before this event but does drink now. Lots of chemical abuse sniffs anything and everything. Cause of death: Homicide. Almost all blood vessels and main body cavity filled with alcohol. Due to additional social history; possibly a retaliatory murder, by a pimp from one of the many prostitutes he did business with. He was known to have helped many of them get straight jobs, get out of the business, and get their lives straight, and some of those ladies still called on him socially from time to time.

The victim was a physically powerful man, would not have been easily attacked. May have known killer who got him sufficiently intoxicated enough to perform the method of killing. See full autopsy report for locations and types of wounds. Bondage wounds do indicate that victim was aware of events after being bound. Wounds to genitals indicate a retaliatory in nature vendetta crime, with a sexual component coupled with known involvement with prostitutes, acts are consistent with criminal revenge behaviors.

The rest of the autopsy report was the gruesome, details of how far the wounds entered the body cavity and a number of cuts. How much of the genitals were removed, and the number of cuts and possible tools used to torture the victim? This additional information does not add to my understanding of why or who killed this brilliant artist.
